- Fables, fantasies, classical, iconography and religious paintings are all specialties of
mine, as well as, book illustrations. Art critics have indicated that my work represents
a fusion of the elements of both western and eastern art traditions and styles.
- My classical art is traceable back to the legacy of the “Old Masters” who have
left an indelible imprint on the manner in which I approach my painting. My
classical paintings and drawings are realistic figuratives, landscapes, and still-
life scenes that generally involve the multiple-step techniques employed by the
"Old Masters".
- I have painted a large number of works that are described as based on fables
or fantasy fiction, many of which have been used in published book
illustrations. These are usually done in pen and ink and watercolor, but can
include gold and silver leaf. My book illustrations have been recommended by
Art Inspirations as "Inspirational Illustrations using visual qualities of art to
portray concepts expressed in the written word. Illustrative art can be extremely
effective in bringing stories to life, making adventure, drama and fairy-tale
worlds almost tangible."
- My iconography images are carefully researched and executed according to
Byzantine and Orthodox traditions whether they are to be hung in a church or a
small panel for the home.
I work in a wide variety of media including drawing (graphite pencil and sanguine),
painting in oil, watercolor, acrylics, pen and ink, and etching, with applications to paper,
canvas, wood, and board. The medium chosen is normally dictated by the subject.
