- I strive to emphasize the classical traditions of drawing and painting based on the
teachings of the old masters in my own art as well as my students. My goal has been
to master ancient iconographic traditions and its brilliantly illustrated folklore while
carefully preserving and translating the unique art traditions of my native country,
Republic of Georgia Although living in Pennsylvania now and being so far from my
native soil, I still seek a connection with the ancient customs and traditions of my
homeland. I don’t simply illustrate religious and folk themes of the Caucasus
Mountain region but attempt to give new life to its folklore and fables.
- As one of the most ancient countries of the world, Georgia has accumulated a rare
artistic heritage. Located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, the culture has
produced a unique blend of East and West. Until this time Georgia has been little
known to the Western World. For that reason, I have attempted to bring an increased
awareness of this rich culture and nation to all.
